SCIENTIFIC SERVICE ROLES
President, Extending Database Technology Association, 2017-present. The EDBT Association (http://www.edbt.org/) organises the primary European database conference, and a biennial Summer School. I was formerly a member of the Executive Board of the Association (2013-16).
Editor, Proteome Standards Initiative: As Editor and Steering Committee Member of the Proteome Standards Organisation (2006--2010), I had responsibility for forming and implementing policies for the development of standards in proteomics.
Co-Chair, Global Grid Forum Working Database Access and Integration Services Group (2002--2006): I had a central role in the management and development of industry standards for database services.
Chair - BBSRC/EPSRC Bioinformatics Panel: As chair of this funding panel (1998-2000), I had responsibility for chairing meetings that awarded grants in the programme, and had a strategic role in helping to shape and develop the initiative.
