Catherine Virlouvet - Biography#

Catherine Virlouvet is French and 57 years old. She is Professor of Roman History at the Aix-Marseille UNiversity. Since 2011, she is the director of the Ecole Française de Rome, where she has previously spent six years, from 1993 to 1999, as a director of studies.

C. Virlouvet is a widly known specialist of Roman social and political history, who often works on food supply. Her main work is in Italy and Rome, but she is also interested in food deposits everywhere in the Roman world.
Author of three monographs and co-editor of two collective volumes, she has published numerous papers in her field. She has also had administrative function at Aix-Marseille University.
