Jacek Witkoś - Curriculum Vitae#
Jacek Witkos is currently employed at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (AMU) where he is Chair of the Department of English-Polish Contrastive Linguistics at the Faculty of English. He has obtained all his degrees at AMU and in (2006) was awarded full professorship by the President of the Polish Republic.
His areas of interest and research include English linguistics, generative grammar, English syntax and morphology, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), contrastive and comparative syntax, syntax of Slavic and Germanic languages. He has received a number of fellowships:
- September 2001 – December 2001: Visiting Scholar in the Department of Linguistics of the University of Maryland in College Park.
- October 2000 - June 2001: Kościuszko Foundation Research Scholar in the Department of Linguistics of the University of Maryland in College Park.
- October 1994 - July 1997: Senior Lecturer in Linguistics in the Department of Linguistics of the University of Vienna, Austria.
- October 1991 - June 1992: Graduate Research Student in the Department of Linguistics of the University of North Wales in Bangor, Great Britain.
- July and August 1990: Research Student at Magdalene College, Cambridge, Great Britain.
Currently, he is President of Santander Group European Universities' Network (SGroup)
He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Slavic Linguistic Society (SLS), a member of Societas Linguistica Europea (SLE) and a member of the Polish Association for the Study of English (PASE).
Jacek Witkoś has been a very active administrator and occupied a number of executive administrative positions. For the previous 8 years he was chiefly concerned with administration of research and management, as Deputy President of AMU for Research and International Cooperation (2008-2016). Before he was Deputy Dean at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures (2005-08) and before that Deputy Head of the School of English (1999-05).
