Robert K. Weninger - Curriculum Vitae#


Born 1954 in the United Kingdom, where he entered school. His family later moved to Germany where he completed his Abitur at a German 'Gymnasium', going on to study German and English literature at Frankfurt University from 1974 to 1982. Dr Phil in 1982.

He began his university teaching career at the University of Texas, Arlington, in 1985 and moved up the ranks (assistant, associate, full professor) as Professor of German and Comparative Literature at Washington University, Saint Louis, before returning to Europe in 2000. In the UK he worked as Professor of German at Oxford Brookes University from 2000 to 2003, and then as Professor of German at King's College London. He was Chair of the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Washington University from 1997 to 2000, Head of the German Department at Oxford Brookes University in 2002 and 2003, and Head of the German Department at King's College from 2005 to 2008 and 2010/11.

He served as editor of Comparative Critical Studies (official peer-reviewed journal of the British Comparative Literature Association) 2006-2011.
