Christoph Wagner is Professor and Chair at the Department of Art History at the University of Regensburg (since 2007). He is an elected member of the Academia Europaea in London. In 2008, he was visiting professor at the École pratique des Hautes Etudes at the Sorbonne, Paris, in 2010, visiting professor at the Institute of Advanced Study in Bern, and in 2012 and 2013, visiting professor at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Wagner’s main areas of focus lie in art, art theory, and the aesthetics of the 20th century. Wagner authored the books Das Bauhaus und die Esoterik: Johannes Itten, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky (2005), Esoterik am Bauhaus: Eine Revision der Moderne? (2009) and Itten – Klee. Kosmos Farbe (2012, accompanying the exhibition in the Kunstmuseum Bern and in the Martin-Gropius-Bau Berlin, respectively). He has recently completed a book Itten, Gropius, Klee am Bauhaus in Weimar. Utopie und historischer Kontext. Prof. Wagner is co-Editor of numerous books, including Pictorial Cultures and Political Iconographies. Approaches, Perspectives, Case Studies from Europe and America (Berlin 2011), Bilder Sehen. Perspektiven der Bildwissenschaft (Regensburg 2013), Aisthesis. Wahrnehmungsprozesse und Visualisierungsformen in Kunst und Technik (Regensburg 2013). Wagner is the General Editor of Regensburger Studien zur Kunstgeschichte and the co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Art History. The International Periodical of Reviews.
