Carsten Wagner - Biography#


Studied human medicine at the University of Tübingen/Germany (from 1991-1998) interrupted by one year as Erasmus exchange student at the University of Edinburgh/UK. Throughout whole studies supported by a stipend from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes (German Academic Scholarship Foundation), the most prestigious German student stipend.

Started during my studies (1993-1998) working at the Institute of Physiology/University of Tübingen/Germany under the supervision of Prof. Florian Lang and Prof. Andreas E. Busch. Medical dissertation on electrophysiological characterization of murine and human renal phosphate cotransporters (marked with highest distinction, "summa cum laude", 1998)

Postdoctoral fellow with F. Lang (1998-99) in Tübingen/Germany, with G. Giebisch and J.P. Geibel at the Depart of Cellular and Molecular Physiology, Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA (1999-2001), and with F. Verrey and H. Murer at the Institute of Physiology, University of Zurich/CH (2001-2002).

Independent group leader starting own research group with independent funding at the Institute of Physiology Univ of Zurich/CH (2002-2006)

2005 Habilitation at the University of Zurich/CH in Physiology
