Trajce Stafilov - Biography#
Prof. Stafilov graduated at the Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje, North Macedonia. He received his MSc (1977) and PhD (1985) at the same University. From 1974 to 1978 he was with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Skopje, as a teaching assistant, 1978-1985 he was with Ferronickel Co., Kavadarci, North Macedonia, as Laboratory manager. From 1985–1988 he was with Mining and Metallurgy Institute in Skopje, as scientific researcher. From 1988 to present he has been with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Skopje, from 1997 as full professor.
His scientific interest is related to analytical and environmental chemistry as well as geochemistry. He is an author of 24 books and of 439 scientific papers (226 papers published in journals from Web of Science and 269 papers in journal from Scopus), 29 chapters in monographs, over 700 presentations at the scientific conferences (45 as a plenary lecturer in more than 20 countries) and 7 patents. His papers are cited in WoS more than 3800 times and 5150 times in SCOPUS.
He was a supervisor of 21 PhD and 48 MSc students. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of 10 international journals and of the Coordination Group Under the Global Monitoring Plan for POPs of the United Nations Environment.
Prof. Stafilov has coordinated over many international and national scientific projects, including the EU PHARE, UNDP and NATO research projects that has strengthened the national research capacities in the fields of environment monitoring and environmental protection.
Prof. Stafilov has received many awards and recognitions, the most important of which are state awards “Goce Delchev” received in 2009 and 2017 for best scientific achievements in 2008 and 2016 in the Republic of North Macedonia for the monographies “Geochemical Atlas of the Veles and its Environ” and “Geochemical Atlas of the Republic of Macedonia”, respectively.
