Lennart Sjöberg - Biographical sketch#
I received my Ph.D. and became a ”docent” (associate professor) in psychology at the University of Stockholm in 1965, was temporary professor of psychology at the universities of Lund and Uppsala 1966-68 and tenured full professor at the University of Göteborg 1970-88, at the Stockholm School of Economics 1988-2005. At the SSE I am also Head of its Center for Risk Research. I have been a visiting professor at the Universities of California, Berkeley campus (1968-69), and Stanford University (1988-89), and at the Dutch research institute NIAS, where I am life fellow, and the Belgian institute EIASM. I was a member of the research council in Sweden in several mandate periods, and Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Swedish Psychological Association. I am now a Scientific Adviser to the Council. I am a licensed psychologist.
I am a member of Academia Europaea - the European Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences and the Royal Norwegian Acadmy of Sciences and Letters, Noway´s oldest academy. I am an associate editor of European Psychologist, PsychCRIQUES, Risk Analysis, the Journal of Risk Research and a member of the editorial board of two more scientific journals. I do research in social psychology (attitudes, risk perception) and personality (emotional intelligence, personality testing), with a quantitative orientation. I also take part in public debate in media and popular scientific magazines. Many articles in English can be downloaded from the homepage, or write a mail and ask for a reprint.
