Ernő Rubik - Curriculum Vitae#


Ernő Rubik was born in Budapest, Hungary, on 13 July 1944. His father, senior Ernő Rubik, mechanical engineer was an aircraft and sailplane designer and his mother, Magdolna Szántó, was a poet. Married with three daughters and one son, five grandchildren. He has lived all his life with his family in Hungary.

Education
  • 1958 – 1962 studied sculpture at the Secondary School of Fine and Applied Arts
  • 1962 – 1967 architect student at Budapest University of Technology
  • 1967 earned his diploma in architecture
  • 1967 – 1971 studied interior architecture and design at Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts and Crafts
  • 1971 earned his diploma in interior architecture

  • 1982 – The Museum of Modern Art, New York selected Rubik's Cube into its permanent collection

  • 1995 – Dénes Gabor Prize from the Novofer Foundation as an acknowledgement of achievements in the field of innovation
