Dorit Ravid - Short Biography#
Dorit Ravid's work is not restricted to the early stages of language acquisition,
she has also published on so-called later language acquisition in adolescents,
and has considerably contributed to our knowledge of these later achievements
in different genres and modalities. This has led her to investigate also
the development of text and discourse structures in various populations.
Dorit Ravid has contributed with her extremely rich knowledge of the Hebrew
language to cross-linguistic projects and publications in which the acquisition
of language is approached from various typological perspectives. By now
she has established herself as one of the most active, productive, pioneering
and inspiring acquisitionists world-wide.
Her international profile is highlighted by her membership of the editorial
board of numerous international journals, her participation in many international
projects and associations, typically as leading figure. Moreover she was
visiting professor in Ottawa (Canada), Vienna (Austria), and received the
prestigious International Francqui Chair in Belgium.
