Christian Pierret - Biography#
After his B.A, Christian Pierret studied in Paris where he passed his Master in Economic Sciences and Doctorate. He also graduated from Paris Political Institute, and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (1972), the leading French school.
After his military service (lieutenant colonel) he entered Ministry of Commerce and Finance before starting a sucessful political career: Conseiller Régional de Lorraine in 1978, Deputy of the Vosges from 1978 with 4 reelections, Mayor of Saint-Dié-Des- Vosges with 4 reelections, Secretary of Sate and Minister specialized in industry and budget.
As a mayor, he promoted among many cultural activities the International Festival of Geography to make his city the geographical capital of the world attracting each year over 50000 participants. Christian Pierret is also in charge of the Federation of Medium size cities, the Groupe d'amitié Parlementaire France/Israel and the Study group France/Vatican.
His involvement in cultural, economic and geographic activities has been recognized by the Geographical Union with the Planet and Humanity Medal, its highest medal. His 3 national distinctions are the proof of his activities in Arts, Education and Economic life in France and Europe.
