Education:
- 1980 - 1985 BA in Turcology, Turkic historical linguistics, Turkish literature, and synchronic Turkic linguistics. Hacettepe University (Ankara).
- 1985 - 1988, MA at the Hacettepe University. MA thesis on the 3rd book of the Old Uighur Golden Light Sutra.
- 1988 – 1994 PhD at the Haceteppe and Göttingen universities. Advisors: Talât Tekin and Klaus Röhrborn. Three years of study abroad in Germany supported by German DAAD. PhD thesis on the 6th chapter of Xuanzang biography in the Old Uighur language (fragments from Musée Guimet). Secondary fields: Buddhism and Sanskrit for 2.5 years at Indological department under the tutelage of H. Bechert, U. Frankenhauser and Mongolian Studies with G. Doerfer.
