José Muñiz - Biography#
José Muñiz has a degree in Psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid, in 1984 he obtained the post of Professor of Mathematical Psychology at the University of the Balearic Islands, and in 1987 he obtained the post of Professor of Psychometrics at the University of Oviedo. He has published numerous papers in national and international journals in the field of Psychometrics and Psychological Assessment. His books on various aspects of psychological measurement include Introduction to Psychometrics, Classical Test Theory, Item Response Theory, Psychometry, Item Analysis, or Introduction to Psychophysics. He founded and directed the journal Psicothema for more than 30 years. As a Fulbright scholar, he carried out research projects at the University of Massachusetts in the United States. He was president of the European Commission on Tests and Testing, president of the International Test Commission (ITC), and of the European Association of Methodology (EAM). Accumulate numerous awards and distinctions. Among the different university services he has provided, it should be noted that he was Vice-rector for Teaching Staff at the University of Oviedo, Member of the School Council of the Principality of Asturias, President of the Advisory Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CAICYT) of the Principality of Asturias, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Director of the Department of Psychology at the University of Oviedo, member of the Academy of Psychology of Spain, Professor Emeritus at the University of Oviedo. He is currently Rector of Nebrija University.
