ESTABLISHING RESEARCH CENTER:

Establishment of the Karl Polányi Centre for Global Studies and the organization and management of its multifarious activities between 2014 and 2022.

The institute, which uses English as its principal working language, now brings together 240 senior researchers (many of them world-renowned) together with a large number of young researchers, including doctoral candidates from some 35 countries). Projects and other forms of cooperation have involved cooperation between countries, disciplines (anthropology, economics, sociology, etc.) and generations. By adopting a global perspective and using innovative approaches, the Centre has established itself as a distinctive intellectual brand, the prestige of which continues to grow. The Centre emphasizes global perspectives, historical comparison, and interdisciplinary research. It is especially concerned to address persistent inequalities and conflicts, and to critique and transcend Eurocentrism and all other forms of essentialism in the social sciences and humanities.
