E. Martinez-Salas has proven expertise on RNA Biology. Her laboratory has played a leadership role in the fields of translation control, RNA viruses, RNA structure and RNA-protein interaction. Her current publication track record has 106 articles (PubMed), 3 patents, and 22 book chapters.
She has pioneered discoveries on the role of long-range interactions in picornavirus IRES elements, the identification of the leader protease of FMDV target sequence in key host factors connected to translation control and innate immunity, and the role of Gemin5 in selective translation control.
