Gabriele Lingelbach - Biography#
Gabriele Lingelbach is professor of modern and contemporary history at Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel, Germany. Previously she taught at the German universities of Trier, Freiburg, and Bamberg and was John F. Kennedy Fellow at Harvard University. She is author of a book on the institutionalization and professionalization of the historical discipline in the United States of America and in France and published a monograph about the history of philanthropy in Germany after 1945. Currently she is head of the research groups 'Menschen mit Behinderung in Deutschland nach 1945’ (‘History of disability in Germany since 1945’) and 'Die Geschichte des Kauf- und Konsumboykottes in Deutschland seit dem ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert' ('Consumers' boycotts in Germany since the late 19th century') at the University of Kiel. In addition, she prepares a volume on the global history of Germany in the 19th and 20th centuries.
