Maria Koptjevskaja-Tamm has established herself as one of the leading language typologists in Europe. Her list of publications is both extensive and impressive, listing a major monograph on the structure and use of nominalizations in the languages of the world. This monograph has established itself as the gold standard in its field, as witnessed by an impressive number of citations e.g. in scholar.google.com (137). This is credible proof of a breakthrough. Furthermore, she has published more than 50 original articles in top-quality scholarly journals.

A typical feature of her scholarship is the combination of rigorous and manifold mastery of data from a wide array ofthe world’s languages with critical and original theoretical analysis.

Koptjevskaja-Tamm has been invited as speaker at more than 15 conferences, for example in Paris, Konstanz, Naples, Wien, Manchester, Mannheim and Dusseldorf She has been teaching at prestigious summer schools in Italy (Association of Linguistic Typology), Russia and Germany, demonstrating that she enjoys full credibility by the research community.
