Susanne Kinnebrock - Biography#


Susanne Kinnebrock received her PhD in 2002 from LMU, Munich. She became full professor in 2007, at the University of Vienna, and in 2009 she took up a professorship at Aachen University. Since 2012, she has been a professor at the Department of Media, Knowledge and Communication at the University of Augsburg. Her research focus is on communication history, journalism, health and science communication and Gender Media Studies. She is presently PI for four externally funded larger projects, three of which from DFG. Susanne Kinnebrock has been very engaged in the German Communication Association (DGPUK) in several capacities (as head of mentoring programmes, section chair, and is the founder of the „Communication History Section“ of ECREA, where she has acted as Vice-Chair und Chair.

She has published widely on her special topics of communication history, feminist movement, public communication and journalism, in leading nternational journals, and she was co-editor of the Handbook of European Communication History (Wiley Blackwell).
