Daniela Carpi - Biography#


Daniela Carpi is full professor of English Literature at the Department of Foreign Literatures and Languages, University of Verona. Her fields of research are: literature and law, literature and science, literature and visual arts, Renaissance theatre, Postmodernism, Critical theory, Bioethics and Literature, Literature and Human Rights. She has founded and presides the Associazione Italiana di Diritto e Letteratura AIDEL (http://www.AIDEL.it). She is in the editorial board of the journals Symbolism: a Journal of Critical Aesthetics (New York), Anglistik (University of Heidelberg), Cardozo Law Bulletin (University of Trento), La torre di Babele (University of Parma), Law and Humanities (University of Warwick), Cosmo, Comparative Studies in Modernism (Univ. of Turin). She co-founded and is the managing editor of the journal Pólemos, Law Literature and Culture published by DeGruyter, Berlin.

Among her most recent publications she has edited the volumes: Practising Equity, Addressing Law. Equity in Law and Literature, Winter, Heidelberg, 2008; Bioethics and Biolaw Through Literature, DeGruyter, Berlin/Boston, 2011; Liminal Discourse. Subliminal Tensions in Law and Literature (with Jeanne Gaakeer), DeGruyter, Berlin/Boston, 2013. She edits two series: 1) “Culture” with an Italian publisher in Verona, Ombre Corte; 2) “Law and Literature” with DeGruyter.

She has created the websites: equity.lawliterature.eu (after the expiration of the project, this site was included in the AIDEL website), (http://www.AIDEL.it.

At the moment she is working on four research projects: 1) Voices of power/Power of voices ; 2) Literature and Human Rights; 3) Law, Literature and Culture; 4) Fables of the Law.
