Elisabeth Aafje van Zoonen - Biography#

Elisabeth Aafje van Zoonen is Dean, Graduate School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Erasmus University Rotterdam and, from 2016, also academic director of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for Big, Open and Linked Data Cities. She has been professor at University of Amsterdam in media and popular culture, and here she was founder and director for seven years of the Centre for Popular Culture, University of Amsterdam. For five years she was chair in media and communications at Loughborough University, and here she also co-directed the Loughborough Communication Research Centre. Prior to her academic career, van Zoonen was a free-lance journalist, film editor and tv maker.
