Robert J. C. Young - Biography#
Robert J.C. Young is Julius Silver Professor of English and Comparative Literature at New York University; before moving to NYU, he was Professor of English and Critical Theory at Oxford University. He writes in the fields of cultural and political history, literature and literary theory, philosophy, photography, psychoanalysis, race and translation studies, with a particular focus on colonial history and postcolonial theory.
His current research focuses on the work of Frantz Fanon, who is the subject of his recent edition with Jean Khalfa, Alienation and Freedom (Bloomsbury, 2018), the philosophical aspects of translation, and literatures of the Maghreb and Middle East.
