Panos Pardalos - Biography#
Prof. Pardalos got B.S. in Mathematics at Athens University, Greece (1977), MS in Mathematics and Computer Science at Clarkson University, Potsdam NY, USA (1978) and Ph.D. in Computer and Information Sciences at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA (1985)
Professor Pardalos did some of the pioneering work in the area of global and combinatorial optimization and its applications. He is the editor-in-chief of two journals (including Journal of Global Optimization, a leading journal in the area of global optimization). He is an editorial board member of more than 40 journals and 10 book series, a member of 7 Award Committees and Societies.
He taught graduate and undergraduate courses on Integer Programming, Linear Programming and Network Optimization, Nonlinear Optimization, Global Optimization, Data Structures, Analysis of Algorithms, Parallel Algorithms, Software Testing, Discrete Mathematics and Graph Theory, Data Mining, Numerical Methods, Matrix Computations, Automata Theory, and Complexity Theory.
He supervised more than 60 Ph.D students, more than 40 M.S. students and several engineering degree students. He served as external Ph.D examiner/adviser of more than 20 Ph.D. dissertations mostly in Europe.
He is the author of more than 7 books, 500 papers in referred journals, 190 papers in referred books and magazines, edited mored than 60 books, more than 25 special issues of journals. He publised more than 35 book reviews.
He has 9 patents and consult several industrial research labs and scientific publishers.
He recieved more than 70 research grants.
He presented about 450 invited talks at scientific conferences and organized or served as program committee member of more than 170 international conferences.
