• Principal investigator and participant in 15 major international programmes dedicated to the study of the Danube - Danube Delta - Black Sea system, and numerous smaller international or national collaborations
  
• Principal investigator of the Romanian Geo-Ecocentre River- Delta-Sea system (2003-2006), which has functioned as catalyst for the setup of EU ESFRI DANUBIUS-RI “International Centre for Advanced Studies for River-Sea Systems”, a Flagship Project within the European Strategy for the Danube Region
