  • 1958 through 1978: assistant, research associate, researcher in the Nature Conservation Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences
  • 1978 through 2005: professor at the Institute of Environmental Biology and the Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Jagiellonian University, teaching evolutionary ecology (undergraduate courses), population genetics (undergraduate course) and statistics (undergraduate course)
  • From 2005: Professor Emeritus, Institute of Environmental Sciences, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland.
  • From 2007: Professor at the Mammal Research Institute, Białowieża, Poland.
