- 2014 Honorary decoration “Distinguished for SGGW (Warsaw University of Life Sciences)” presented by Rector of Warsaw University of Life Sciences
- 2014 Honorary decoration “Distinguished for Agriculture” presented by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Government of Poland
- 2012 Opening Lecture at the official state ceremony of launching the academic year 2012/2013 at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, attended by the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, Archbishop and other dignitaries, therein many university rectors
- 2010 elected a Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences
- 2010 delivered a Penman Lecture at the Third International Symposium of the British Hydrological Society, Newcastle upon Tyne
- 2008 received the Large Golden Seal of the City of Poznań, granted by Mr Ryszard Grobelny, the then Mayor of Poznań „for extraordinary achievements in the area of climate and environment protection, that make Poznań famous in the world and are a reason for pride for its inhabitants”. This is a great honour, usually bestowed to one recipient per year.
- In 1994-2015, Professor Kundzewicz considerably contributed to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), being also a four-fold Coordinating Lead Author, in 2001, 2007, 2008, and 2012. Hence he takes a pride of being responsible for a little but meaningful part in the collective achievement of IPCC that was awarded Peace Nobel Prize in 2007. On this occasion he received a special diploma from IPCC.
