Crisanto Gutierrez - Curriculum Vitae#
Research: understanding the interplay of chromatin dynamics, DNA replication and cell proliferation, where he is internationally recognized. He has used several models (oncoviruses, geminiviruses and Arabidopsis thaliana, the latter ideal to study biological processes using multidisciplinary approaches (cellular, molecular, genetics and genomics).
His pioneering discovery of the tumor suppressor protein retinoblastoma (Rb) in plants was seminal in the field. Also seminal was his deciphering of mechanisms of geminivirus DNA replication coupled to cell cycle.
