Xiaoming Fu - Biography#


Xiaoming Fu is a Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Göttingen and leading the Computer Networks Group. He received his Ph.D. (2000) from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. After that, he worked as a member of scientific staff at TU Berlin until joining the faculty at the University of Göttingen in 2002. He served as Vice Chair of the Technical Committee on Computer Communications (TCCC, 2010-2012) of IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), and as Chair of the Internet Technical Committee (2011-2013) of the IEEE ComSoc and Internet Society (ISOC).

He has been on the editorial boards of IEEE Network, IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, IEEE Networking Letters, Computer Networks, Computer Communications, Chinese Journal of Electronics. He is a founding editor-in-chief (now honorary editor-in-chief) of Journal of Social Computing and editor-in-chief of ACM Transactions on Social Computing. He is an IEEE Fellow and IEEE distinguished lecturer, a distinguished member of ACM, a Fellow of IET, a fellow of acatech - German National Academy of Science and Engineering, and a member of GI.

Prof. Fu was a Principal Investigator of EU FP6-ENABLE, VIDIOS & MING-T, H2020 COSAFE, HE COVER and CODECO projects, and served as coordinator for EU FP7-GreenICN, CleanSky, MobileCloud projects and H2020 ICN2020 project. He served/serves as an evaluator for several funding agencies, including DFG, Germany; EU (FP7, H2020); NSF; SSF, Sweden; Research Foundation - Flanders, Belgium; MIUR, Italy; RPF, Cyprus; FONDECYT, Chile; and RGC Hong Kong & NSFC, China etc.
