Author or co-author of two books, 40 book chapters, 320 articles in archival journals (including 9 prize winning papers from ASCE, IABSE, and Elsevier), more than 600 papers in conference proceedings, and over 100 research reports . Editor or co-editor of 40 books published by ASCE, Balkema, CIMNE, CRC Press, Elsevier, McGraw-Hill, Taylor & Francis and Thomas Telford. Guest editor or co-editor of 17 special issues of international journals. Two-time (2014 and 2001) recipient of the Croes Medal, the second highest honor granted each year by the American Society of Civil Engineers for a technical paper judged worthy of special commendation for its merit as a contribution to the Engineering Science.
Recipient of the 2015 Alfred Noble Prize, granted by the American Society of Civil Engineers for the exceptional merit of a paper published across all the technical publications of five major engineering societies in the US (ASCE, AIME, ASME, IEEE, WSE).
