Christoph Flamm - Biography#
Christoph Flamm studied musicology, art history and German language and literature at the University of Heidelberg, where he received his doctorate with a thesis on the Russian composer Nikolai Medtner. In 1994-2001 he was employed in the editorial staff of the encyclopedia "Die Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart" at the Bärenreiter-Verlag Kassel, in 2001-2004 scientific employee at the Music History Department of the German Historical Institute in Rome. He received his Habilitation with a thesis on Italian instrumental music in the early 20th century at Saarland University in 2007 where he then teached as a Privatdozent. A substitute professorship took him to the Berlin University of the Arts in 2011/12. He was appointed as professor of applied musicology at the Alpen-Adria-Universität in Klagenfurt in 2013. Since 2014 Christoph Flamm was professor of musicology at the University of Music Lübeck. He moved to Heidelberg University in 2020.
