Prof. Drzewiecka now works as an Associate Professor at the Università della Svizzera italiana, Switzerland. Her research interests include the relationship between media and racial, cultural and national identities, public memory discourses in the media, media representations of migrants and European Union integration as well as critical discourse analysis, materiality of discourse. She directs a research project on "Migrant belonging: identity, affect and capital" funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. She serves as Academic Director of the Executive Master in Intercultural Communication and as Academic Director of the European Master of Intercultural Communication. Prof. Drzewiecka serves on the Editorial Boards of several renowned international academic journals, e.g. The International Journal of Critical Diversity Studies, The Popular Culture Studies Journal, Journal of International and Intercultural Communication.
