Mary Chambers - Biography#
Professor Mary Chambers PhD, B. Ed (Hons), RMN, RGN, RNT, RCNT, DipN(Lond), CertEd, ENB 650, FEANS
She has extensive experience of mental health nursing and has held senior positions in clinical practice, education, management, leadership and research. Her research activity in mental health nursing and servicer user involvement has had national and international impact. The evidence based therapeutic engagement questionnaire (TEQ) she led the development and validation of together with mental health service users for use in acute care settings is the first of its kind. It has been translated into five languages and implemented in Finland, Malta, Slovenia and Jordan with interest from the United States, Australia, Turkey and Cyprus.
She is an associate editor of the International Journal Health Expectations and involved with other editorial boards and regularly sits on research review panels nationally and internationally and other scientific committees. She has published scientific and professional peer reviewed articles and her Principle Investigator profile includes a number of health informatics research projects, service user involvement projects, the care of distressed and disturbed service users. and instrument development. She is a member of the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) sub-panel 3 and was Mental Health Nurse Academics UK (MHNAUK) research standing group lead for over three years stepping down January 2020. Previously an expert panel member of HORATIO, the European Association for Psychiatric Nurses.
