- 15 May 2002: awarded a doctorate for the thesis ‘Indirect representation in European contract law’ at the University of Utrecht (supervisors: Professor Dr. A.S. Hartkamp and Professor Dr. E.H. Hondius)
- 1997 - 1998 September 1998: awarded the degree of Magister Juris in European and Comparative Law at the University of Oxford (St. John’s College). Subjects: English contract law, comparative law, international trade; dissertation: ‘Undisclosed Agency and the Lando Principles’.
- 1992 - 1997 Law degree course (main subject: Dutch law; specialisation: private law) at the University of Utrecht from September 1992 to August 1997. Graduated cum laude at ‘propaedeutic’ and ‘doctoraal’ level.
