Professor Alain Aspect and Anton Zeilinger awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics#
The Academia Europaea members Alain Aspect (Physics and Engineering Sciences section) and Anton Zeilinger (Informatics section) have (jointly with John Clauser) won the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics, “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science”.
With their innovative experiments on entangled particles, they paved the way towards new and potentially revolutionary technologies based on the quantum properties of entanglement.
Prof. Aspect is Professor at the Université Paris-Saclay and École Polytechnique, Palaiseau.
Prof. Zeilinger is Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Vienna, Austria, and former president of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
