Enrique Zuazua - Curriculum Vitae#
Enrique Zuazua, Eibar, Basque Country – Spain, 1961 is a Professor of Applied Mathematics at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is also an honorary member of Jakiunde, the Basque Academy of Sciences, Letters and Humanities, a Visiting Professor of the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Lorraine, in France and a Humboldt Research Awardee at the University of Erlangen in Germany.
He holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), and a dual PhD degree from the same University (1987) and from the "Université Pierre et Marie Curie" in Paris (1988). Professor of Applied Mathematics at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid since 1990, and of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid since 2001.
In the period 2008-2015 he was Distinguished Research Professor at Ikerbasque, the Basque Foundation for Science, and leader of the "Partial Differential Equations, Control and Numerics" at BCAM - Basque Center for Applied Mathematics, that he founded in 2008 as Scientific Director (2008-2012).
Awarded the Euskadi (Basque Country) Prize for Science and Technology 2006 and the National Julio Rey Pastor Prize 2007 in Mathematics and Information and Communication Technology, the Advanced Grant NUMERIWAVES of the ERC in 2010.
With over 240 articles published, his work has had an important impact (h-index = 33) and he was recognized as a “Highly Cited Researcher" by the ISI Institute (Thomson) in 2004, also he has supervised 23 PhD students and over 30 postdocs.
His fields of expertise in the area of Applied Mathematics cover topics related with Partial Differential Equations, Systems Control and Numerical Analysis.
He is the editor-in-chief of “ESAIM:COCV" and member of the editorial committee of other Journals and of scientific committees of various centres and agencies.
His dissemination activities include two radio programs in Basque Country (spanish and Basque); a TV show (in basque) and two newspaper columns on topics related with “Mathematics and Society” http://www.enzuazua.net
