Faculty of Electrical Engineering and International Office as well as Office of Students Professional Career in cooperation with the Academia Europaea - Wrocław Knowledge Hub invite students, PhD students and academic teachers of Wrocław University of Technology on a lecture of Professor Einar Hope on Lessons from power sector reform – the Norwegian and Nordic power market reform experience, and beyond.

Short outline of the lecture:

  • Background for the Norwegian and Nordic power market reforms
  • Some methodological and conceptual issues in power market reforms
  • Lessons of the integrated Nordic-Baltic power market reforms and ongoing developments towards European market expansion and integration
  • Summary of international lessons
  • Challenges and unresolved issues.

Einar Hope
Professor Einar Hope, Professor of Energy Economics at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) since 1999. Former president and Research Director of the Foundation for Research in Industrial Economics (SNF) at NHH (1978-1995). Director General of the Norwegian School of Economics. Headed the research project SNF/NHH 1988-1998 that laid the analytical and operational foundation for the Norwegian power sector reform and the Norwegian Energy Act of 1990. President of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), 2010. Book review Editor of the IAEE journal Economics of Energy and Environmental Policy (EEEP) since 2011. Member of the Board of the Bergen Hub of the Academia Europaea. Appointed Knight of the First Order of the Royal St. Olav Order by the King of Norway for excellent services "to Norwegian society and mankind", 2007.
