Invitation to Online Launch Event of EASAC New Commentary#
"Increasing Urgency for Transformative Change"#
6 March, 13:00 CET, Online#
Dear EASAC members, friends and colleagues,#
We warmly invite you to join the online launch event of our new EASAC Commentary, which highlights a troubling disconnect between the magnitude of crisis and the political will to pursue transformative change. Legal hurdles, deep-rooted corporate agendas, and fleeting political priorities are key obstacles. Misinformation and greenwashing efforts stoke the flames of resistance to genuine action. Fossil fuel subsidies linger like unwanted houseguests, while GDP-driven models chase quick wins over sustainable gains. And despite global promises, crucial policies fall short.
Our new publication presents evidence of worsening trends, inadequate measures, and the urgent need for bold policy action in the EU. At the same time, it explores policy options for the EU that contribute to transformative change.
