Selberherr acted as Principal Investigator in numerous projects of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) [http://www.fwf.ac.at/en/index.asp] and the European Community, the most recent on is SUPERTHEME [http://cordis.europa.eu/projects/rcn/104877_en.html].
\\ \\
Selberherr headed two Christian Doppler Laboratories [http://www.cdg.ac.at] on simulation for integrated devices with considerable emphasis on computer science issues. from 1989 to 1993 and from 1996 to 2002, respectively.
\\ \\
Selberherr published more than 300 papers in scientific journals and books. He and his research teams achieved more than 900 articles in conference proceedings of which more than 130 have been with an invited talk. Prof. Selberherr authored two books and co-edited 300 volumes, and he supervised, so far, more than 90 dissertations.
\\ \\
His current research interests are modeling and simulation of problems for microelectronics engineering by means of modern software technology. Selberherr contributed considerably to the area of applied informatics forced by missing solutions required for microelectronics research. He always tried with great success to bridge the gap between informatics and microelectronics in research as well as in teaching.\\
\\
Selberherr is an active member of the following professional institutions:
\\
*ACM Association for Computing Machinery (since 1979)\\
*ECS Electrochemical Society (since 2009)\\
*IEEE Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (since 1979)\\
*SIAM Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (since 1980)\\
*VDE Verband deutscher Elektrotechniker (since 1984)\\
\\
Prof. Selberherr is a Fellow and a Distinguished Lecturer of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
