After PhD work in plant-microbe interactions, Ben Scheres developed as an independent PI from 1990 onward the Arabidopsis root as a model system for multidisciplinary dissection of developmental mechanisms in plants. For decades, his group included PhD students originating from other scientific disciplines engaged in computational modeling and mathematical analysis of the pattern formation mechanisms that we study. Additional connections to theorists have been established in Wageningen, Norwich, Cardiff and Cambridge. As a result, the group has become capable of studying gene regulatory networks in spatiotemporal context at a level of sophistication that is at the forefront of plant research. \\

Since 2018, Ben Scheres is also active as Research Manager of the Biotechnology department at the family owned breeding company Rijk Zwaan, with ~4000 employees worldwide. Here, he tries to implement academic knowledge in the pursuit to produce better varieties of vegetable crops.\\ \\[{ALLOW view All}][{ALLOW edit bscheres}][{ALLOW upload bscheres}][{ALLOW comment All}]
