Prof. Anna Korhonen received a PhD in Computer Science from Cambridge University (1968), following an MPhil in Computer Speech and Language Processing at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge and an M.A in Linguistics at the University of Reading following undergraduate studies in Linguistics at the University of Helsinki. She is now Co-Director of the Institute for Technology and Humanity, University of Cambridge and Director of its Centre for Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence (CHIA) since 2022. She is a Professor of Natural Language Processing since 2017 and is Co-director of the Cambridge Language Technology Laboratory (LTL) at the University of Cambridge since 2015, where she is also a Senior Research Fellow at Churchill College. She has held research positions at the National Institute of Informatics, Tokyo, Japan, and the Dept. of Computer and Information Science, at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. She is active in relations with European and international partners and was member of the ACL Executive Board (2020-2022), the main professional organisation in computational linguistics, with over 5000 members worldwide, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Ireland’s ADAPT Research Centre (since 2023), the Danish Science Foundation panel (since 2021) and of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of Luxembourg (since 2020).
