Mathilde Eveline (Evelien) Keizer studied English Linguistics and Literature at the Vrije Universiteit (1981-1987), where she also obtained her PhD in linguistics (1992). After a post-doc position at the University of Tilburg and a research fellowship at University College London, she was appointed assistant professor at the University of Amsterdam in 2003; here she also joined the Amsterdam Center for Language and Communication as a senior researcher. In 2011 she was appointed full professor at the University of Vienna.\\

Evelien Keizer’s research interests include various aspects of English linguistics, in particular the English Noun Phrase. A syntactician by training, she is interested in the interfaces between syntax, semantic and pragmatics. She is an expert on theoretical theory in general and Functional Discourse Grammar in particular. She is the author of "The English Noun Phrase: the Nature of Linguistic Categorization" (2007, CUP) and "A Functional Discourse Grammar for English" (2015, OUP), and co-author of "Syntax of Dutch: Nouns and Noun Phrases.
