!!Nick Fox - Biography

Nick Fox graduated with a first-class degree in Physics and Physiology from the University of Cambridge. He went on to study medicine at the University of London where he was awarded distinctions in Medicine and Surgery.  His thesis was on the use of MRI to detect early change in Alzheimer's disease and techniques he developed have been widely used in natural history studies and clinical trials.  He helped to show that Alzheimer's disease was characterised by a long period of presymptomatic changes that could be detected and tracked - this led a shift in how the disease was viewed and to the launch of clinical trials for prevention. He was a founder member and co-I on the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) and the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN).  \\

Author of more than 500 original publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, Nick has an h-Index of 119 by Web of Science – Clarivate Analytics and a h-Index of 155 according to Google Scholar.  Nick has been listed as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher for each of the last 5 years. He serves on the editorial board of a number of journals including the Lancet Neurology and acts as a scientific advisor for a number of international studies. \\

Nick is active clinically running a cognitive disorders service that acts as a national referral centre for young onset and familial dementia. He set up the first national support group for familial Alzheimer's disease. He serves on the Research Strategy Council of the Alzheimer's Society. His research is clinically focused and includes imaging, biomarkers, and clinical measures to improve diagnosis and accelerate the search for disease modifying therapies for these devastating disorders.\\ \\
