__Education:__

Bachelor and master students.  As scientific director of the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences (NCMLS), he developed, together with colleagues within NCMLS, an NVAO (Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders) approved honors master: ‘Molecular Mechanisms of Disease’ in 2005. This masters program admits only the top 5% of students within the domain of molecular life sciences (see: www.ncmls.eu). For this program, he teaches a one-week course ‘Excellence in communication’, aimed at all aspects of science communication by a highly personalized training program.\\
PhD students.  So far, he has supervised 27 PhD students, 7 of which are now associate professors and 4 full professors (prof. P. Sloot, prof. Y. van Kooyk, prof. G. Adema, prof. T. Geijtenbeek). Furthermore, he is responsible for teaching courses in immunology, cell biology, cell adhesion and migration, gene- and immunotherapy.
