The candidate is a full professor and Director of the Key Lab of Virtual Geographic Environment (MOE, PRC) at Nanjing Normal University, China. He earned his Ph.D. in Cartography and GIS (2009) and B.E. in Computational Mathematics (2004) from Nanjing Normal University. From 2009 to 2015, he worked at the Institute of Space and Earth Information Science, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. During this period, he developed a strong foundation for international collaboration and broadened his global academic perspective, contributing to research on geographic information science. He is President (2024)/Chair of BOD (2025-) of CPGIS, Vice-President of iEMSs, Chair of Modeling Geographic System Committee of IGU, Chair of Young Scientist Innovation Network of ISDE, Chair of Young Scientist Working Group in AGA, et al. He is a fellow of iEMSs, MSSANZ, AAG and RGS-IBG. He is a co-editor in Chief of Environmental Modelling & Software, executive editor of Annals of GIS.\\

He now leads the OpenGMS team. The OpenGMS platform ([https://geomodeling.njnu.edu.cn]) enables geographic modeling knowledge and models to be widely shared, allowing researchers and even the general public to more easily access and use related knowledge and models to explore the geographic world and understand our planet. As a core and leading author of the“Big Earth Data in Support of the SDGs” Reports (from 2021 to 2024, yearly) for the United Nations, and an invited reviewer for the 2023 Global Sustainable Development Report (UNDESA, ISC), he has made significant contributions to global sustainability efforts. He is also the PI of National Young Talents Program China (the key level), PI of NSF for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, PI of NSF for Excellent Young Scholars of China, et al. He has won the Biennial Medal of iEMSs, “Waldo Tobler Young Researcher Award”in GIScience awarded by Austrian Academy of Sciences, 2021 Global Frontier Science and Technology Young Scientist, 1 First Prize and 1 Second Prize in Natural Science awarded by the Ministry of Education of China, the 6th university innovative personality in GIS in China, Top Prize of Progress award in Chinese Geographic Information Technology, 2023 top ten research advances of Chinese Society of Land Economics, 2021 top ten research advances in Chinese geographical science, et al.\\

With over 200 journal papers published in leading journals such as Science, Nature Reviews Earth & Environment, Nature Geoscience, and PNAS (among these nearly 30 papers with their IF>10), 20 conference papers and book chapters, he continues to make transformative contributions. As the lead author of the VGE definition chapters for “The International Encyclopedia of Geography” and "GIS and Virtual Reality" for Oxford Bibliographies in Geography, he has played a pivotal role in advancing geographic modeling and sustainability research globally.
