The latter includes access of an increasing world population to fresh water, sustainable energy and food amid climate change and various anthropogenic pollutions. All these aspects are of paramount importance for healthy living. \\ \\ This workshop brings together leading scientists, experts and stakeholders engaged in facing these issues with different complementary backgrounds. The aim is to intensify the dialogue between Earth and environmental sciences and life sciences, establishing novel interdisciplinary connections, creating a platform to promote frontier research and innovation to address urgent societal needs. These issues are by definition of global and pan-European nature, but also particularly relevant for the Danube basin and the Danube river system. !Conveners: *[Sierd Cloetingh|Member/Cloetingh_Sierd] MAE (HUN-REN EPSS, Utrecht University) *__Katalin Solymosi__ (AE Budapest Knowledge Hub, YAE, ELTE) !Key topics include: *Earth system dynamics *Earth environment *Water supply *Sustainable energy *Sustainable agriculture *Healthy living !!Programme !24th April 2025 __9.00 [Balázs Gulyás|Member/Gulyás_Balázs] MAE:__ Opening and welcome \\ \\ __9.20 Katalin Solymosi:__ Introduction of the AE Budapest HUB and SAPEA \\ \\ __9.40 [Sierd Cloetingh|Member/Cloetingh_Sierd] MAE:__ Introduction to the workshop \\ \\ ''__10.00-10.30__ COFFEE BREAK'' !SESSION I: EARTH SYSTEM AND ENVIRONMENT __10.30 [Sierd Cloetingh|Member/Cloetingh_Sierd] MAE (HUN-REN EPSS, Sopron; Utrecht University):__ Coupled Surface to Deep Earth Processes: Perspectives from TOPOEUROPE with an Emphasis on Climate- and Energy-Related Societal Challenges \\ \\ __11.00 [Taras Gerya|Member/Gerya_Taras] MAE (ETH Zürich):__ Bio-Geodynamics \\ \\ __11.30 [Reinhard Hüttl|Member/Hüttl_Reinhard] MAE (EEI Eco-Environment Innovation GmbH, Berlin):__ Soil Sciences and the Nantesbuch Initiative \\ \\ __12.00 Pietro Sternai (University of Milano):__ The Interplay Between Geology and Climate: The Slow Breath of Earth’s Living Machine \\ \\ __12.30 Laura Petrescu (NIEP Bucharest):__ Unconventional Earthquakes: Peeking Inside the Vrancea Seismicity \\ \\ ''__13.00-14.00__ LUNCH BREAK'' !SESSION II: RENEWABLE GEO-ENERG __14.00 Gábor Tari (OMV, Vienna) Natural Hydrogen:__ Where do we stand? \\ \\ __14.30 Eszter Békési (HUN-REN EPSS, Sopron) Geo-Energy Research at HUN-REN EPSS:__ Status and Future Advancements \\ \\ __15.00 Bernhard Novotny (OMV, Vienna):__ The Vienna Urban Geothermal System in Practice \\ \\ ''__15.30-16.00__ TEA BREAK'' \\ \\ __16.00 János Szanyi (University of Szeged):__ Geothermal Energy Utilization \\ \\ __16.30 Mark van der Meijde (University of Twente, Enschede):__ Local Geothermal Monitoring and Solutions \\ \\ __17.00 Márta Berkesi (HUN-REN EPSS, Sopron):__ CO2-rich Fluids from Greater Depth: Connection of Deep Earth with the Human Habitat \\ \\ __17.30 Challenges and Opportunities__ \\ \\ ''__17.45 __DRINKS'' \\ !25th April 2025\\LIFE SCIENCES AND HEALTHY LIVING !SESSION III: FEEDING HUMANKIND AND HEALTHY LIVING __9.00 Tom Beer (Safe System Solutions Pty Ltd, Brunswick):__ Climate, Wildfires, Air Quality and Health \\ \\ __9.30 Katalin Solymosi (ELTE Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest):__ Challenges of Sustainable Agriculture \\ \\ __10.00 [Phoebe Koundouri|Member/Koundouri_Phoebe] MAE (Athens University of Economics and Business):__ Integrated Assessment Models for Transforming Food Systems under Climate, Biodiversity and Food Security Threats: A Systems Approach \\ \\ __10.30 Péter Török (University of Debrecen):__ Grassland Restoration in the Anthropocene: Challenges and Opportunities for a Sustainable Future \\ \\ ''__11.00-11.30__ COFFEE BREAK'' \\ \\ __11.30 [Péter Nagy|Member/Nagy_Peter] MAE (Hungarian National Institute of Oncology, Budapest):__ European Initiatives to Improve the Integration of Cancer Research, Prevention and Care \\ \\ __12.00 [Balázs Gulyás|Member/Gulyás_Balázs] MAE (HUN-REN HQ, Budapest):__ Frontiers of Healthy Ageing \\ \\ __12.30 [Péter Hegyi|Member/Hegyi_Péter] MAE (Semmelweis University, Budapest):__ From Science to Sustainable Health: Transforming Education and Research into Real-World Impact \\ \\ __13.00 Challenges and Opportunities__ __\\ \\ 13.15 Future Initiatives and Follow-up__ \\ \\ ''__13.30-15.00__ LUNCH BREAK'' \\ \\ !HOST [Balázs Gulyás|Member/Gulyás_Balázs], President HUN-REN !SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZING COMMITTEE [Sierd Cloetingh|Member/Cloetingh_Sierd] MAE (HUN-REN EPSS, UU)\\ __Katalin Solymosi__ (AE Budapest Hub, YAE, ELTE)\\ __Szilvia Kövér__ (HUN-REN EPSS, ELTE)\\ __Viktória Barna__ (AE Budapest Hub, Semmelweis University)\\ !LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE __Krisztina Imrik__ (HUN-REN HQ; [imrik.krisztina@hun-ren.hu|mailto:imrik.krisztina@hun-ren.hu])\\ __Éva Papp__ (HUN-REN HQ; [papp.eva@hun-ren.hu|mailto:papp.eva@hun-ren.hu])\\ __Gabriella Verbovszky__ (HUN-REN HQ; [verbovszky.gabriella@hun-ren.hu|mailto:verbovszky.gabriella@hun-ren.hu]) \\ \\ ---- \\ %%columns;-380;230; [{Image src='AE_logo_BUDAPEST_07.png' caption='' height='70' alt='AE Budapest' link='https://mta.hu/aebudapest'}] ---- [{Image src='hun-ren-EPSS.jpg' caption='' height='70' alt=''}] ---- [{Image src='YAE.jpg' caption='' height='70' alt=''}] %% \\ \\ %%columns;-300;100; [{Image src='MTA.png' caption='' height='70' alt=''}] ---- [{Image src='TopoEurope.png' caption='' height='70' alt=''}] ---- [{Image src='ILP_international_litosphere_programme.png' caption='' height='70' alt=''}] %%
